Maoming is an underrated coastal gem in western Guangdong. It has long stretches of silvery beach and jelly-colored seas, along with affordable, varied, and authentic local food. • China First Beach: Home to 12 kilometers of silvery sand, with a gentle shoreline and clear seawater. In the evening, you can enjoy a spectacular sunset and ride the seaside sightseeing mini train, capturing railway scenery reminiscent of “Guangdong’s little Kamakura.”

• Yanjing Ridge: A lesser-known hiking retreat. From the summit, you can overlook the whole of Tongzi Bay and take in panoramic views of the coastline. The photogenic mountain boardwalk looks great from almost any angle, and it is an excellent spot for sunset.

• Transport Advice: High-speed rail goes directly to Maoming Station. Attractions within the city are relatively spread out, so self-driving or renting a car is recommended; if taking the bus, Route 303 goes directly to China First Beach.
