About China Temp Rankings
China Temp Rankings is a weather data visualization project for comparing temperatures across China. The site organizes city-level public weather readings into national rankings, province maps, 7-day forecast views, and written notes that explain how to read the data.
Our Mission
We aim to make weather data across China accessible, visual, and easy to understand. The site is designed for readers who want to compare regions quickly, check city-level differences before a trip, or follow broad weather patterns without opening dozens of separate forecast pages.
Who Maintains This Site
The site is maintained as an independent data presentation project. Automated scripts collect public weather fields, while the generated pages add organization, bilingual labels, local context, travel notes, methodology notes, and clear limitations. Feedback is reviewed through the contact email below.
What We Offer
- Real-Time Temperature Rankings: See which provinces and cities are the hottest and coldest right now, updated every hour.

What Makes the Pages Useful
Weather feeds can be hard to compare when each city is shown in isolation. China Temp Rankings adds value by grouping monitored cities by province, calculating regional extremes, preserving city tables, and adding notes about terrain, coastlines, elevation, humidity, wind, rain, and local travel considerations.
Our Data Sources
We aggregate temperature data from public weather pages and APIs, including monitored city forecasts from the National Meteorological Center of China. Our automated system collects data regularly and processes it to generate comprehensive temperature rankings and forecasts. The data includes current temperatures, daily highs and lows, wind speeds, and weather conditions.
We publish the data as a reference tool rather than as an official warning product. Each page is designed to help readers compare regions, understand local variation, and quickly find city-level conditions. More detail is available in our methodology and data sources pages.
How It Works
Our system operates on a fully automated pipeline:
- Weather data is collected from public APIs for over 300 cities across all Chinese provinces.
- Data is stored and processed in a time-series database (InfluxDB).
- Static HTML pages are generated with the latest data and deployed to a global CDN.
- Pages are regenerated regularly to ensure data freshness.
Technology
China Temp Rankings is built with performance and reliability in mind. We use static site generation for fast page loads, ECharts for interactive map visualizations, and Tailwind CSS for a clean, responsive design. The site is deployed on Cloudflare Pages for global CDN delivery and fast access worldwide.
