• Day 1: Old-City Culture and Everyday Local Life

In the morning, head to Keyuan Museum to admire one of the four great gardens of Lingnan, an elegant classical garden where admission is only 8 yuan and every casual photo looks beautiful. In the afternoon, visit Lingnan Art Museum and Dongguan Memory Cultural Tourism Block, where century-old arcade buildings create an atmosphere blending old and new. In the evening, go to the Xinguangming Market night market to try honey-glazed chicken wings, beef offal, and all kinds of sweet soups, and experience old Dongguan nightlife.

• Day 2: Lakeside Scenery and European Romance

Spend the day at Songshan Lake Scenic Area. Cycling or taking the popular little sightseeing train around the lake is recommended. Take castle-style photos around the exterior of Huawei’s European Town, then wait by the lake at dusk for a pink sunset. For dinner, go to Dalingshan Town for authentic lychee-wood roast goose. The skin is crisp, the meat is tender, and it is deeply satisfying.

• Where to Stay: Staying in the Hongfu Road commercial area or Dongcheng District is highly recommended. You can walk to International Trade Center, there is a metro station downstairs, and dining, shopping, and entertainment are all convenient. For upscale hotels, consider Kande International Hotel or Hyatt Regency Songshan Lake. For good-value chain hotels, consider Ji Hotel or Atour.
• Intercity Transport: From Guangzhou, you can take a coach. From Shenzhen, the high-speed train to Humen Station is recommended, with direct access to the city center in about 20 minutes.
• Getting Around the City: Attractions are fairly spread out, so driving or taking taxis is the easiest option. Renting shared electric bikes is not recommended because there are too few return points.
