• ​​Riyue Bay​​: Guesthouses here often have distinctive decor, and the atmosphere is relaxed and lively. It suits surf lovers and young travelers who enjoy nightlife, though it can be noisy at night.
• ​​Shimei Bay​​: Beautiful, peaceful sea views, with many beachfront resort hotels and guesthouses. Good for family trips or couples who want a quiet, laid-back stay.
• ​​Shenzhou Peninsula​​: Accommodation offers good value for money, facilities are well developed, and there are many restaurants and beach bars nearby. Getting around by taxi or rented electric scooter is very convenient.

Classic 3-4 Day Itinerary

• ​​Day 1: Arrival and First Look​​

After landing at Haikou Meilan Airport, transfer directly inside the station to the high-speed train to Wanning, getting off at Shenzhou Station or Wanning Station. The ride takes about 1 hour. After checking in, head to a nearby beach bar, such as Goofy Dog or Cashcow, to enjoy the sea breeze, have afternoon tea, and take in your first healing sea view.

• ​​Day 2: Shimei Bay, Artsy Corners, and Sunset​​

In the morning, visit Fenghuang Jiuli Bookstore, an artsy corner facing the sea. In the afternoon, stroll along Shimei Bay Beach and take photos at Instagram-style restaurants and bars. Toward evening, go to Coconut Grove Avenue on Shenzhou Peninsula and take the sightseeing shuttle to Shenzhou Lighthouse for a stunning sunset.

Transportation and Practical Tips to Avoid Pitfalls

• ​​Getting There​​: Wanning has no airport. It is recommended to fly to Haikou Meilan Airport, which has more flights and cheaper tickets. From Meilan Station, you can transfer directly to a high-speed train to Wanning, with a journey of about 50-60 minutes.
• ​​Local Transportation​​: Attractions are quite far apart, so ​​renting a car and self-driving is strongly recommended​​ for the greatest flexibility. If you are only traveling short distances within Riyue Bay or Shenzhou Peninsula, you can rent an electric scooter for about 30-80 yuan per day, but note that ​​electric scooters are restricted on some sections around Shenzhou Lighthouse and Coconut Grove Avenue​​, so you will need to take a sightseeing shuttle.
• ​​Sun and Mosquito Protection​​: The UV rays in Hainan are extremely strong, so be sure to prepare high-SPF sunscreen, beach socks, sunglasses, and sun-protective clothing. There are also many mosquitoes by the sea, so bring mosquito repellent as well.
