Pre-Trip Essentials and Latest Policies

• Tickets and Reservations: Huangshan admission is 190 yuan per person in regular and peak seasons. Tickets are valid for 3 days, with unlimited entry and exit. Be sure to make a real-name, time-slot reservation in advance through the “Huangshan Tourism Official Platform” mini program.
• Transport Tickets: The scenic-area shuttle bus costs 38 yuan round trip and is mandatory. The Yungu/Taiping cableway costs 80 yuan one way, the Yuping cableway costs 90 yuan, and the West Sea Grand Canyon sightseeing funicular costs 100 yuan.

• Staying at the Foot of the Mountain (Good Value): Tangkou Town is recommended. It is close to the scenic-area transfer center, convenient for entering the mountain early the next morning, and has a full range of nearby restaurants and accommodation. • Stinky Mandarin Fish: A signature Huizhou dish. It smells pungent but tastes delicious, with firm, flavorful flesh. A must-order.

Pitfalls and Things to Note

• Transport Traps: After arriving at Huangshan North Railway Station by high-speed rail, it is recommended to take the official bus (20 yuan) to Tangkou Transfer Center. Do not trust unlicensed roadside cars or low-price tour groups, as they may involve hidden costs.
• Weather Alerts: Huangshan’s weather changes quickly. On rainy or overcast days, heavy fog can seriously affect the views. Check the weather forecast before departure. The best chance of seeing a sea of clouds is early in the morning after rain clears.
