Day 1: After arriving in the morning, have a bowl of zaotang noodles, then visit Jingzhou Museum. In the afternoon, explore Zhang Juzheng Former Residence and Guandi Temple. At dusk, climb Binyang Tower to watch the sunset over the ancient city. In the evening, eat late-night snacks on Jing Street or Changda Snack Street and watch the ancient city light show.
Day 2: In the morning, snack your way through Dasai Alley. Later in the morning, head to the Chu King’s Chariot and Horse Array to feel the weight of history. In the afternoon, return downtown and go to Shashi Yang Matou to enjoy the river views. At dusk, take photos of the ancient pagoda in Wanshou Garden, then have an authentic local meal before heading home.

Xiao Hu Ya

Its sauced pressed duck is the signature dish, with firm meat, crispy skin, and a sweet-spicy flavor that gets more fragrant as you chew.

Li Min Malatang

Freshly cooked counter-style hotpot around the stove. Fish cake and lotus root sandwiches are the soul of it, and the spicy tossed version is outstanding.

Wang Han Guokui

The flatbread is huge, loaded with sesame, crisp on the outside and savory inside. One bite and you’ll be hooked.

Yaowazi Malatang

A malatang spot loved by locals too, where you can order around the pot. Fried lotus root balls are the highlight.

Accommodation and Transport Tips

Where to Stay: For a first visit, consider staying near Wanda Plaza or around the East Gate of the ancient city, near Jianghan South Road. Transport is convenient, and food, drinks, and entertainment are concentrated nearby. Prices rise during holidays, so compare options in advance. When booking a hotel, choosing a room above the 9th floor can be quieter.
Getting Around: The high-speed train from Wuhan takes about 1.5 hours directly to Jingzhou Station. From the station, a taxi to the ancient city takes about 15 minutes. Shared electric scooters are the most convenient way to get around town. If driving, note that Inner Ring North Road and Zhangjuzheng Street in the ancient city area prohibit traffic and parking at all times. It’s best to leave your car at the hotel or in a large parking lot.
