Must-Visit Attractions

  • Baotu Spring: The foremost of Jinan’s 72 famous springs. It’s best to enter right when it opens at 7:00 a.m.; there are fewer people and better photo opportunities. The Li Qingzhao Memorial Hall inside the park is also very photogenic.

  • Daming Lake: Known for “lotus on four sides and willows on three.” The park is large, so renting an electric scooter or taking a sightseeing cart is recommended. The lighting of Chaoran Tower is a must-capture moment.

Practical Tips to Avoid Pitfalls

  • Transport: City attractions are concentrated, and shared bikes plus the metro are the most convenient. The starting taxi fare is 9 yuan, and electric scooters are great for exploring the old city.
  • Sun Protection: UV rays are strong in summer, so try to avoid going out at midday. It may be cool by the springs, but the sun is still intense.
  • Collecting Spring Water: You can collect spring water to drink at Black Tiger Spring, but those with sensitive stomachs should boil it first. Follow the queue and keep order when collecting water.
  • Reservations: Shandong Museum is closed on Mondays, so be sure to reserve 1 day in advance. Baotu Spring is best visited in the morning, as the water flow may be smaller in the afternoon.
  • Snack Streets: Furong Street and Kuanhouli are fine for a quick look, but the food is average. For authentic Shandong cuisine, go to small local restaurants frequented by residents.
