- Ticket Reservations: The Jiuqu Stream bamboo raft is the highlight experience, so be sure to book online 3-7 days in advance. Tickets are usually unavailable on site. Both admission tickets and bamboo raft tickets require your original ID card to enter the park.
- Transportation: Take high-speed rail to Nanpingshi Railway Station or Wuyishan North Railway Station. From the station, you can take the light rail or K1 bus directly to the scenic area. Attractions are fairly spread out, so driving is the most convenient option; within the scenic area, you need to use sightseeing buses to connect between sites.
- Where to Stay: Sangu Resort Area or the Nanyuanling guesthouse cluster are the top choices. They are close to the south gate of the main scenic area, have plenty of dining nearby, and help you avoid damp, remote guesthouses deep in the mountains.
- What to Pack: There are many mosquitoes and insects in the mountains, so bring mosquito repellent. Stone steps can be slippery, so wear non-slip athletic shoes. The weather changes quickly, so pack a lightweight raincoat; umbrellas are not recommended on the windy summit.
- Spending Traps: Avoid low-price unofficial guides and scalped tickets at scenic area entrances. The original Dahongpao mother trees have long been protected from harvesting, so do not trust expensive sales pitches for “mother tree tea.”
